The Sculpt 3D 4.1 Demo is installed and ready to use. However, if you have more than 8 megabytes of RAM we strongly suggest that you increase the amount of memory that is allocated to the Demo application. To do this, follow these instructions:
Setting the Memory Partition for the Demo
Click once on the Sculpt 3D v4.1 Demo icon and choose the 'Get Info' menu item from the File menu. The field at the bottom of the window labeled "Preferred Size" shows that Sculpt presently has 5000K (5MB) of RAM allocated to it. This allows Sculpt to run on Macintosh computers with limited amounts of memory. Additional memory expands Sculpt's capacity to handle large and complex models. It can also increase the rendering speed in many cases.
A relatively complex scene may be built with a 'Preferred Size' of 12,000K on a Macintosh with 16 megabytes or more of memory. This leaves 4,000K for the operating system.
An absolute minimum amount of memory for the 'Largest Unused Block' in the 'About This Macintosh' dialog box is about 1,000K while running Sculpt. The free memory is used by the Macintosh to open folders, small utilities, and to perform file or image manipulations while an application is running.
Note:
If you open the scene file called "Default Scene" you may be confused because there appears to be nothing in it. The reason is this: the Default Scene is a special scene which is loaded by Sculpt every time you choose the New Scene command from the File menu. That's why it doesn't contain any 3D objects. It contains a collection of textures, a sky map, and various settings that make it easier to create renderings that look good the first time. In the full version of Sculpt, this scene can be edited and saved to customize your work environment.
